Barack Obama Pipes Stephen Harper's Keystone XL "No Brainer" Into Tailing Pond!

(Washington, United States / Ottawa, Canada / Calgary, Alberta - 2012.01.23) -- President Barack Obama, in what is widely considered a poorly veiled attempt to capitalize on The 99 Percent "Occupation" movement, put an end to the latest TransCanada Keystone XL pipeline project - touted not too long ago, as a "no brainer" for being approved, by Conservative Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper. But to consider this apparent "victory" as anything but a pre-presidential election political stunt may be naive.

The long-term investment that Harper and Obama have made in blending American and Canadian commerce/security added to the desperate need of "sure-thing" oil sources (which don't cost as much to ship from American-occupied war zones) adds up to an inevitable spill of global corporatism over the temporarily placated mass conscientious protesters.

Obama was as clear as Bush (when George W declared that he never "actually said" Iraq had anything to do with 9-11 and he couldn't understand how Americans could come to believe that) when he qualified "this denial" of the proposed Canadian tar sands pipelines plan as NOT FINAL. He went on to lay the groundwork for a possible future approval by citing that the "merits" of the plan were not as flawed as the mere short time frame to look into certain issues.

In other words, it was a "logistical" reason, rather than environmentally or democratically principled reason, which founded Obama's kaybash of the dirty tar sands pipelines through pristine American watershed and landscapes. This gives (Wall-Street) Obama plenty of cover to reconnect his shared pipe dreams with his corporate government counterpart Stephen Harper. After all, conservatives and liberals get along just fine where global corporatism is involved.

Regrettably, many American and Canadian protesters are putting their placards back in the closet, assuming that they have "won". If anything is clear in recent history on both sides of the (soon to be dotted) Canadian-American border, politicians are gaining savvy in diffusing contentious issues without actually closing the doors to their intended agendas.

Those more experienced and in favor of earth/people friendly policies know that round two of the TransCanada pipeline assault on American (and Canadian) soil is in the making.

Remember the 700 billion (actually, in reality, trillions) of dollars first proposed to corporate banksters who threatened the American and world economy? This was protested and rejected - at first.

But once the public felt it had "won", a subtle rewrite of essentially the same bailout package was passed, handed out, and gone forever as bonuses and more security for those who broke the economy in the first place.

Mass solidarity by Canadians AND Americans (PEOPLE, that is) has proven to be a powerful, effective, and necessary tool to, reign in the power structures which are supposed to represent the interests of the majority.

And now the lesson of vigilance becomes crucial in the future outcome of this conflict between global elite corporatism (visa vi Wall Street/Bay Street rulers) and the humans, who pay for the whole show one way or another.
