As you listen or watch the "news", try and picture all the places being talked about, and WHERE they are on the globe. As soon as you hit a spot on the planet which comes up as a blank in your mental map, LOOK IT UP! These days, with everyone hyper-wired, you probably won't even have to switch "channels". What better way to spend "commercial time" than empowering yourself to break free of the mindless global consumerism which has gotten us into the fine mess we are in! KNOW the planet, its peoples, and the finer physical details of the various spots on OUR globe! If you have a competitive spirit, you may want to challenge yourself (or others) in how long you can go into a "broadcast" before having to look up a (yet to be discovered) unknown spot on the map! Keep this up, and before you know it (or after), you'll be able to listen and pay attention to reports of the world with a clearer sense of EXACTLY where these places are and how close the folks being talked about are to YOUR locality.
