Prior to the disastrous earthquake in 2010, Haiti held the dubious record as the poorest country in the west. While humanitarians viewed this as an urgent call for aid, sweatshop-style manufacturers enjoyed many years of cheap labour for producing their wares. Shortly after the earthquake, the world, in a spark of simultaneous humanity, seemed to marshal incredible resources to help the people of Haiti, but then the governments and their politics became involved. While many who have made donations to help the people of Haiti mistakenly believe that things are now better, the reality on the ground is quite different - contrary to their international and Haitian human rights, people are being evicted from their tents and about 500,000 Haitians are effectively "going back to zero" - where they were just after the earthquake...
Roger Annis. "Returning to zero': Forced evictions in Haiti's displaced persons camps". rabble.ca, March 1, 2012, online. LOCAL Trade Zone ALERT! (Washington, United States / Ottawa, Canada / Calgary, Alberta - 2012.01.23) -- President Barack Obama, in what is widely considered a poorly veiled attempt to capitalize on The 99 Percent "Occupation" movement, put an end to the latest TransCanada Keystone XL pipeline project - touted not too long ago, as a "no brainer" for being approved, by Conservative Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper. But to consider this apparent "victory" as anything but a pre-presidential election political stunt may be naive.
Nick CHUDAK ALERTS! (2012.01.03 - Earth) -- Of the hundreds of fine documentaries I've viewed and reviewed over the years, this film, Zeitgeist: Moving Forward, is my NUMBER ONE PICK for EVERYONE! Regardless of who you are or what you do, you MUST WATCH THIS FILM IMMEDIATELY! If the human condition is getting you down, this is the kind of conscientious soul booster you have been hoping for!
Nick CHUDAK (2012.01.01) -- It was going to happen, sooner or later, with, or without our consent - year 2012! Best not to resist it and accept that for some (actually many) this may be the last year of life on earth as they know it. This is more exciting than Y2K ever was!
LOCAL Trade Zone™ (2011.12.06) -- As "the 1%" desperately scrambles to secure its power to continue polluting the planet and extracting the resources and wealth from "The 99%" (at the expense of the "The 99 Percent!") savvy local goods and service providers have already discovered the power and security of LOCALISM.
The global free market economy experiment has FAILED MISERABLY, and the key to recovery is LOCAL TRADE! Small independent product makers and service providers must now choose between decimation by global corporatism or empowerment by localism!
People of the planet are literally screaming for local representation, local governance, and local economy - this is what localism is all about.
LOCAL Trade Zone™ provides a human-biased venue to promote CONSCIENTIOUS LOCALISM around the planet. If you manufacturer products using local materials (wherever possible) and observe sound contemporary environmental practices, we want to know about it!
New York Business Reviews (NY - 2011-08-12). -- "RE: Democracy Now Interview with Ido Aharoni, consul general of Israel in New York on July 1, 2011... For a first-time observer of "official Israeli position" it might not be fair to generalize the remarks made by Ido Aharoni, but as I have been following matters related to Israel, its egregious policies and practices, I found the interview to reveal a consistent pattern of attitude and behavior...".

New York Business Reviews (NY - 2011-08-12). -- "The government of Israel can publicly deny its direct involvement in preventing humanitarian flotillas from being able to send much needed, peaceful, humanitarian cargo (letters of hope from children) from reaching the desperate people hopelessly trapped behind the Israeli water blockade of Gaza, but I'm not convinced - nor are countless others around the world. Israel's "defence", as expressed by its government officials, of its long history of "anti-humanitarian" policies and actions reveals an unwavering agenda of self-preservation - seemingly at any and all costs...".

New York Business Reviews (NY - 2011-08-10). -- "It is interesting how the "international community" seems to be split into several major opinions when it comes to the topic of generalizing Israel's domestic policies against the Palestinian people it occupies as "apartheid". Those who support global corporatism (United States President Barack Obama, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, the European Union) stand behind Israel waving the public funds of taxpayers (many of whom completely disagree with the undeniable record of brutality and chronic humanitarian offenses by the government of Israel)...".

New York Business Reviews (NY - 2011-07-21). -- "Corrupt media is a threat to national security. When the media demonstrates that it cannot be trusted to perform its duties with integrity, our entire process of democracy and justice is broken. Such organizations must be held accountable and the punishment for betraying the public must be proportional to the magnitude of their dominance. Just as "cop killers" get harsher justice, "truth killers" should be treated the same...".
